Actors Who Refused To Be Celebrity Guests On TV Shows
Jacqueline Fernandez recently put her foot down and refused to make an appearance on Comedy Nights Bachao. The actress’ argument was that she doesn’t like the roast format of the show, which relies heavily on insult comedy. However, Jacqueline isn’t the only Bollywood actor who has bowed out of a TV show citing problems with the host or the makers of the show. Here are some more examples.

The actress’ argument was that she doesn’t like the roast format of the show, which relies heavily on insult comedy. Not just Jacky, even her Dishoom co-stars Varun Dhawan and John Abraham refused to go on the show to promote their recent flick. However, Jacqueline isn’t the only Bollywood actor who has bowed out of a TV show citing problems with the host or the makers of the show. Here are some more examples:
Hrithik Roshan
For the promotion of his upcoming period drama Mohenjo Daro, Hrithik was supposed to be a part of the opening episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9. However, Colors (the channel that airs Jhalak...) threw a spanner in his plans – they had a clause stating that he had to attend Comedy Nights Bachao as well. Like Jacqueline, Hrithik too refused to be a part of Comedy Nights Bachao as he didn’t like the concept of insult comedy. In the end, Hrithik dropped out of both the shows.
Akshay Kumar
A pro at comedy himself, Akshay has time and again made appearances on many comedy shows on TV. However, his last experience on Comedy Nights Bachao while promoting Housefull 3 wasn’t enjoyable. Comedian Siddharth Jadhav’s racist comments on Lisa Haydon didn’t go down well with Akshay – in fact, the actor even went ahead and stopped the comedian by pushing him aside. Now that Akshay was asked to promote Rustom on the show once again, he point-blank refused to shoot for it.
Ranbir Kapoor
Katrina Kaif might be a closed chapter in Ranbir’s life today. However, you might recall that ever since RK Jr began dating Kat, he had always steered clear of the actress’ ex-boyfriend Salman Khan. So much so that he didn’t even go to Bigg Boss, which is hosted by Salman, to promote his films. That too not once but twice. Ranbir not only gave Bigg Boss 8 a miss during the promotions of Roy, he was also a no-show in the 9th season where Deepika Padukone went alone to promote Tamasha (Ranbir skips Tamasha promotion in Bigg Boss 9 to avoid Sallu, Nov 21).
Arjun Kapoor
Much like Ranbir, even Arjun stayed away from promoting Tevar (2015) on Salman’s Bigg Boss 8. Reason? The Ishaqzaade actor was a part of the AIB Roast in December 2014, where the stand-up comedy group had taken quite a few digs at Salman’s sister Arpita. This obviously didn’t go down well with Salman and ever since then, Arjun has been shying away from coming face-to-face with his mentor.
Yami Gautam
Yami was supposed to attend Bigg Boss 9 for the promotion of Sanam Re, but she cancelled it at the last moment (Yami skips Bigg Boss to avoid Salman, Jan 11). The reason being Salman, again. Pulkit Samrat had walked out of his marriage with Shweta Rohira then and Yami was being referred to as the home-breaker. Considering Shweta is Salman’s rakhi sister, guess Yami thought it was best to stay away from Sallu.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh and Colors have had a good equation in the past, with the superstar having attended Comedy Nights With Kapil quite a few times. However, when he invited Kapil Sharma to be a part of his show on &TV, India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun, the officials of Colors didn’t allow the comedian to be part of the show. Their decision was driven by the fact that &TV was their rival channel. They ended up rubbing SRK the wrong way. A few months later, when he was invited by Colors for the final episode of Farah Khan Ki Dawat, he refused to go there stating the same reason.
